The constant religious and tribal tension in North-Central Nigeria and political upheavals are what forced O.Josky (Born Eche Ojile) to New York City. At the tender age of 11, he was already enrolled in a rigorous military institution that incorporated academic as well as infantry training aimed at combating guerilla style war-fare. Upon graduation, he voluntarily served in the military for a year and half before joining the greater part of his family on Staten Island in 2001. “Believe it or not, as early as the early eighties, many kids on the block had already started free-styling and mimicking the hip hop icons at the time. At that time the fastest mouth was always pretty much the winner” says. O.Josky. While other kids were content with lip syncing other artists, I wanted my own material, so I started writing my own rhymes." He would eventually drop down the pen for a couple of years to fulfill his late father’s wishes of graduating from college. With an education out of the way it was back to the studio to pursue a lifetime passion. “My background makes me an underdog… I like it that way. If the manipulation of words and speech patterns is what makes a great rapper, then let the people be the judge."
